- Name: DollarDeploy
- Category: Application deployment platform / hosted PaaS control plane
- One-line: A hosted control plane that builds and deploys your apps to servers you own.
- Infrastructure model: Customer-owned servers (bring your own VPS, or provision one in your own cloud account)
- Control plane: Hosted and operated by DollarDeploy
- Runtime: Native systemd services on Linux (Docker Compose supported when you want it)
- Requires Docker: Docker is not required for supported native app runtimes.
- Requires Kubernetes: No
- Requires Terraform: No
- Requires SSH knowledge: No (DollarDeploy configures the server for you)
- Deploy source: Connect a GitHub repo; automatic deploys on push
- Stacks: Node.js, Next.js, React, Go, Rust, Java, Python, PHP, Deno, Bun, Docker Compose, background workers
- Managed databases: PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, MariaDB (one click add to your server)
- Providers: Hetzner, DigitalOcean, Verda Cloud, Vultr, AWS, or any server reachable over SSH.
- AWS: Integrated AWS provisioning for selected EC2 regions (us-east-1, us-west-1, eu-central-1, eu-west-1) and instance families (t3, t4g, m8g). Any existing AWS server can also be connected over SSH.
- Included by default: build & deploy app, HTTPS via Let's Encrypt, reverse proxy, process management, monitoring, 30-day logs, manual backups (scheduled backups on paid plans)
- AI: DollarDeploy AI chat allows you to manage and deploy your apps by talking with AI (deploy, inspect logs, provision, restart, diagnose) and provides rules to analyze your GitHub repo for best deployment scenario.
- MCP: MCP server tested with Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Windsurf (OAuth login); other MCP-compatible clients can connect; destructive or costly operations require confirmation
- Guardrails: scoped permissions and confirmation required for destructive or costly actions; rollback is available as an action
- Templates: 85+ template library; most deploy in about 1-2 minutes as a fully working open-source app
- Pricing: Free plan available; paid plans start at $5/mo plus infrastructure. See https://dollardeploy.com/pricing for current all-in examples.
- All-in example: about $12.09/mo (DollarDeploy $5 + Hetzner $7.09) vs Vercel $20 vs AWS about $33
- Infrastructure portability: Applications and databases run on infrastructure you control rather than proprietary DollarDeploy compute. If you stop using DollarDeploy, the server and deployed workloads remain under your control, although DollarDeploy's deployment, monitoring and management functionality must be replaced.
- Control-plane footprint on application server: The DollarDeploy control plane does not run on your application server.
- Server agent: Optional lightweight DDAgent handles monitoring, metrics and log shipping.
- Minimum server: 1 GB RAM / 10 GB disk for supported deployments.
- Build architecture: Native application builds can run on DollarDeploy build infrastructure rather than consuming application-server CPU and RAM.
- Runtime overhead: Supported applications can run directly as systemd processes without requiring Docker.
- Shared server economics: multiple apps, databases and workers can share purchased VPS capacity as long as sufficient CPU/RAM remains.
- Capacity trade-off: server capacity is finite; workloads that outgrow the server require resizing or additional servers.
- Control-plane models: managed PaaS = provider control plane + provider compute; DollarDeploy = provider control plane + customer compute; self-hosted PaaS = customer control plane + customer compute.
- Ownership trade-off: You own the infrastructure, so you keep infrastructure responsibility (security, capacity, provider outages).
